About Kilnlane Dental

St Helens Practice Manager Jo Murphy

Jo Murphy - Practice Manager GDC reg no 124239

My Kiln Lane life began in July 1990 when I was first employed as a trainee dental nurse. It may sound like a cliché but I realised early in my career that dentistry was going to play an important part in my life.

25+ years on and I was right. After moving up the ladder at Kiln Lane from Trainee to Practice Manager with many roles in between I am as passionate about dentistry and providing the best support for our patients now as I was all of those years ago.

To watch a patient evolve from being too embarrassed of their mouth to smile from ear to ear or being so nervous that even a simple examination leaves them in tears to becoming a regular attender who strides in with confidence for their appointments still brings a lump to my throat. Knowing that I have played a part, however large or small in that transition, is an amazing feeling and I count many of our patients as friends.

Away from Kiln Lane I love relaxing, holidaying or socialising with my partner of over 21 years, always with Henry, our Dogue de Bordeaux in tow. I am a keen reader, crafter and baker when I can find the time!

St Helens Receptionist Janis Dowling

Janis Dowling - Reception Manager GDC reg no 154319

I joined Kiln Lane in 2008 after completing my training at Liverpool Dental Hospital.

Personal experience of some healthcare settings have led me to vowing that I always welcome patients with a helpful smile, not a growl! I know that no one likes to visit the dentist and I do all that I can to make sure that each and every patients visit to us is as pleasant as possible.

Married with two children and a pooch, my time off is spent enjoying life with them, friends and family.

St Helens Treatment Co-ordinator Nicola Robinson

After returning to St Helens from the Wirral in 1999 I joined Kiln Lane in 2001 as a trainee nurse.

Nursing can be a challenging career but it is one I thrived in and quickly climbed the ladder at Kiln Lane to become Senior Nurse. My role at Kiln Lane is a varied one; I share the role of receptionist as well as controlling stock, maintaining our central sterilisation unit and nursing.

I enjoy building relationships with patients; talking to them and finding out about their lives helps them to relax and have a more pleasant visit and this brings them back to see us again and again.

Working part time means that I have a brilliant work/life balance and am able to spend quality time with my family.
